Pain Relief Solutions for Businesses
As an employer, you strive for a team of healthy, happy employees with minimal absenteeism and maximum productivity. However, chronic pain can disrupt this goal. With Pain-Changer's pain relief solutions, you can reduce the impact of pain on your company's performance.
An Invisible Group
Did you know that one in five employees struggles with chronic pain on a daily basis? Take a moment to reflect on this within your organization. Does this align with your perception of the team?

If you find that there are more affected individuals than you initially thought, you're not alone. Often, people with chronic pain belong to an invisible group. They may not readily discuss their pain because it's personal, and they often feel misunderstood.

In addition to personal challenges for employees, this can unfortunately have consequences for your organization, such as:
More Sick Leave
The average number of absentee days for chronically ill individuals is more than twice as high (31 days) compared to those without chronic conditions (14 days), according to research by Pfizer.
Extended Sick Leave
According to Selis, chronic pain in Belgium is even one of the leading causes (33%) of extended sick leave.
Reduced Productivity
Pain is often accompanied by fatigue, reduced physical fitness, and concentration issues. In fact, a survey conducted in 2021 found that 12% of respondents reported being hindered in their regular work activities due to pain (Zorginzicht, 2017).
Side Effects Medication
Of those experiencing pain-related hindrance, nearly 23 percent were prescribed opioids (strong painkillers) (CBS, 2017). We know that the side effects of these medications can negatively impact work performance.
A new approach to chronic pain
In 2019, the World Health Organization (WHO) officially recognized chronic pain as a standalone medical condition. This means that pain should be considered and treated independently of its original cause, often physical damage.

Unfortunately, currently available therapies and painkillers often prove insufficient in relieving long-term pain, especially as they still primarily target the physical damage (the original cause of the pain). Several studies indicate that 79% of patients consider the treatment of chronic pain inadequate (Zorginzicht, 2017).

Scientific evidence increasingly demonstrates the crucial role of the brain in perpetuating chronic pain. This is where our expertise lies.
Contextual Healing
At Pain-Changer, the brain takes center stage as we operate using the Contextual Healing method. Developed by the Harvard Medical School, this method integrates the bio-psycho-social model and enriches it with placebo insights.

Specifically, this means focusing on thoughts, emotions, associations, and behaviors. In shaping the treatment, we also consider the (social) environment. We go as far as influencing biological processes by reprogramming the brain and stimulating the production of natural pain relievers, such as endorphins.

We assist anyone looking to address their pain
Pain-Changer is ready to assist individuals dealing with various forms of persistent pain, including back pain, neck pain, knee pain, as well as conditions like migraine, fibromyalgia, RSI, and other forms of chronic pain.

Our Contextual Healing approach focuses on the role of the brain in persistent pain. This means we are here to support everyone, regardless of their background, past treatments, or the specific pain they are experiencing.
These are the Pain Relief options for businesses.
Depending on the number of pain patients in your organization, you can choose between Pain Groups or Individual Pain Coaching. Both options can be conducted either online or at your company's premises.

Groups can consist of 4 to 10 employees. If there are more interested individuals, we create multiple groups to ensure everyone receives the attention they deserve.

We operate on a no cure, no pay basis. At the end of the program, you determine the value based on factors such as absenteeism, productivity, pain scores, and improved quality of life for your employees.
This is what the journey looks like.
1. Non-committal intake
We first introduce ourselves to you (online or in person) and explain the process.
2. Recruiting candidates
There are several options for you to choose from. You can nominate employees yourself, or we can visit to present our approach to your team. Alternatively, you can share a video where we introduce our methodology.
3. Getting acquainted.
We schedule a separate introduction with each candidate. Only when their desires and needs align do we commence the program.
4. Start Program
Over the course of five sessions spread across five months, we work with your employees on managing their pain.
5. Evaluation
Afterward, we evaluate the program, taking into account factors such as absenteeism, productivity, pain scores, and the improved quality of life of your employees.
6. Payment
You only pay the suggested price if you are satisfied with the results.
What can you expect from Pain Groups?
5 sessions over 5 months
The journey starts with a non-binding intake, followed by a comprehensive introductory session and four substantive sessions spread over four months. For additional support, we also offer an optional follow-up six months after completing the program.
Pain Education
We recognize the importance of education as an intervention for persistent pain, as recommended by official guidelines. However, it is noteworthy that less than 4% of patients have received this education. Therefore, education is a crucial component of our treatment approach. We strive to provide our patients with comprehensive pain knowledge, enabling them to gain a better understanding of their situation and recovery.
Professional workbooks
Between sessions, clients actively engage with the themes and address their pain using four professional workbooks. These workbooks include education, application questions, challenging assignments, and brain exercises. This practical approach strengthens the learning process and allows clients to experience how they can effectively manage their pain.
Behavioral Psychology
In our pursuit of a pain-free future, we acknowledge the crucial role of behavioral change. To alter our brain's response to pain, we must change our behavior. We understand, however, that changing behavior is easier said than done. Hence, we pay special attention to behavioral psychological insights in your treatment journey.
