A Pain Learning Community
These are your options
There are various ways to participate in the Pain-Changer Pain Groups. Firstly, we have an Open Pain Group (1), where individuals can join independently. These sessions take place online, eliminating location constraints. Secondly, there are Closed Pain Groups (2), existing groups where Pain-Changer conducts the course. These sessions can occur both online and at the group's chosen location.
01
Open Pain Groups
Are you alone and looking to address pain within a group setting? Explore our Open Pain Groups, conducted online via Teams. A new group of approximately 8 people starts every quarter on Monday afternoons (3:30 PM - 5:00 PM). These sessions are specially designed for anyone living with persistent pain who wishes to learn within a group context, ensuring a personalized experience due to the limited size.
02
Closed Pain Groups
Are you a leader, manager, or part of a group dealing with persistent pain? Explore our Closed Pain Groups, which can take place both online and at the group's location (client). These monthly sessions offer flexibility not only in location but also in duration. The day, time, and duration of the sessions are determined in consultation with the group. It's important to note that these groups are closed, meaning only members of the group/team/organization will participate. This ensures a confidential and personalized environment to address pain.
We assist anyone looking to address their pain
Pain-Changer is ready to assist individuals dealing with various forms of persistent pain, including back pain, neck pain, knee pain, as well as conditions like migraine, fibromyalgia, RSI, and other forms of chronic pain.

Our Contextual Healing approach focuses on the role of the brain in persistent pain. This means we are here to support everyone, regardless of their background, past treatments, or the specific pain they are experiencing.
Contextual Healing
At Pain-Changer, the brain takes center stage as we operate according to the Contextual Healing method. Developed by the Harvard Medical School, this method integrates the bio-psycho-social model and enriches it with insights into the placebo effects.
Concretely, this means that we focus on four different domains: Emotion, Thoughts, Behavior, and the Body. In shaping the treatment, we also consider the (social) environment. We go so far as to influence biological processes by reprogramming the brain and stimulating the production of natural painkillers, such as endorphins.
What can you expect from Pain Groups?
At Pain-Changer, pain assistance goes beyond symptom relief. Our offerings always include pain education, brain exercises, and utilize behavioral psychology knowledge. In the Group Program, we apply the four Contextual Healing themes to your pain. This restores control over pain, and you will learn to trust again in your body's pain-relieving abilities.
5 sessions over 5 months
The journey starts with a non-binding intake, followed by a comprehensive introductory session and four substantive sessions spread over four months. For additional support, we also offer an optional follow-up six months after completing the program. The group sessions themselves last 1.5 hours.
Pain Education
We recognize the importance of education as an intervention for persistent pain, as recommended by official guidelines. However, it is noteworthy that less than 4% of patients have received this education. Therefore, education is a crucial component of our treatment approach. We strive to provide our patients with comprehensive pain knowledge, enabling them to gain a better understanding of their situation and recovery.
Professional workbooks
Between sessions, clients actively engage with the themes and address their pain using four professional workbooks. These workbooks include education, application questions, challenging assignments, and brain exercises. This practical approach strengthens the learning process and allows clients to experience how they can effectively manage their pain.
Behavioral Psychology
In our pursuit of a pain-free future, we acknowledge the crucial role of behavioral change. To alter our brain's response to pain, we must change our behavior. We understand, however, that changing behavior is easier said than done. Hence, we pay special attention to behavioral psychological insights in your treatment journey.
Our approach to changing the brain requires dedication, time, and willpower from both our clients and our team. We encourage potential clients to self-assess if the current moment is right for such a journey. We hope you understand that timing is crucial for a successful experience, and it might not be ideal at the moment, but could be in the future. When the time is right, schedule an obligation-free intake.
